Who
are the Friends of the Moline Public Library?
The
Friends is a volunteer group founded in 1990 and dedicated
to supporting the Moline Public Library in order to
enhance the services provided to library patrons.
We
are dedicated to enhancing the Library services as it
faces budgetary challenges and the technological demands
of this century. We are funded through our membership
dues, magazine sales, book sales, and other fund raising
events. Your dues will ensure that the Friends can help
the Moline Public Library continue to be one of our
community’s finest resources.
The funds are used for materials, equipment, and services
that the library would not otherwise be able to provide.
Anyone
can be a Friend. If you are interested in joining us,
please print and complete the membership
form and mail it today.
We need your help.

Sale Room Volunteers
The
Friends of the Moline Public Library Sale Room
in the new library is totally run by volunteers
who assist patrons in selections, accept new donations,
restock shelves and sort received materials in
our sorting room. A more detailed description
of duties is included on the application form.
Currently
our shifts are fully staffed with 2-5 volunteers
per shift. The work shifts are two hours long,
and details of hours are on our downloadable application
form. You may also pick up an application form
in our Sale Room. Temporary vacancies are filled
by substitutes. We are accepting applications
to become a substitute, and subs may move into
a regular shift as they become open.
We
have training available for our volunteers, and
we are a part of RSVP network of volunteers. Thank
you for considering this opportunity to help your
library. If you have any questions or concerns,
please contact store manager by leaving a note
at circulation (or in Sale Room), email to molinefriends@gmail.com or by mail at Friends of MPL, PO Box 1201, Moline,
IL 61266-1201

Magazines,
books, and various media may be purchased
from the Friends Sale Room across from the
checkout counters in the new Moline Library.
We have hardback, paperback, children’s
books, fiction, non-fiction, audio books,
music CD’s, cassette tapes, and other
media. Our selection includes premium (like
new books), pretty good books, and our usual
excellent selection of bargain books.
Current magazines, books, and media may
be donated at the library by anyone any
time the library is open. You may leave
your donations in the Sale Room, in our
donations drop box in the library lobby,
or at the circulation desk.
You
do not need to be a member to donate. We
ask for magazines that are current year
(weeklys in current quarter year) any media
and books that are in very good condition
– hardback and paperback CD, VHS tapes,
DVDs, and records. Our volunteers in the
Sale Room will be happy to assist you.
We
also offer a donor card for tax purposes
on donated materials. |
