Temporary Hours & Services
Moline Public Library is currently operating with limited services and hours of operation. Please see the list below for answers to frequently asked questions. Those entering the library are expected to wear a face covering that covers nose and mouth and maintain a proper social distance during their entire visit.
The Library is back to full hours of operation and will be 9:00am to 8:00pm, Monday and Thursday, 9:00am to 5pm, Friday and Saturday. We will also be open Sundays from 1pm to 4pm beginning January 9, 2022.
Curbside Pickup hours are noon to 4:00pm, Monday through Thursday. Curbside Pickup will be unavailable on Friday and Saturday. For information on how to request materials via curbside pickup, see our Curbside Pickup page.
Depending on the nature of the program, presenter availability, likely number of people to attend, and so on, some programs will be offered in-person at the library while others will continue to be virtual at this time. Be sure to visit the MPL Kids blog, the MPL Teens blog, and the Adult Services blog on our web site for programming posts. All programs are also listed on our events calendar.
Computers will be available for one 1 hour session per person, per day. An appointment is not necessary to use the computers.
We encourage you to apply for a library card on our web site. In-person registration is available for those without access to our web site.
Meeting Rooms & Study Rooms
Meeting Rooms and Study Rooms are available for use. Study Rooms are available on a first come, first serve basis. Questions about Meeting Room reservations should be directed to the Circulation Desk at 309-524-2450. Those using the Meeting Rooms and Study Rooms will still be asked to adhere to responsible social distancing and must where masks for the duration of their visit.
Wifi access will continue to be available in the Library and its surrounding parking lot.
Our Adult and Children’s information desks will be staffed and ready to take your questions. You may also call 309-524-2470 for the adult information desk or 309-524-2480 for the children’s service desk during normal hours. Questions can also be submitted online via our website.
Fine & Fee payment
Fines can be paid by accessing your account in the PrairieCat Catalog or by calling the library Circulation Desk at 309-524-2450.
Copiers, Scanner & Public Faxing
Copy machines, public scanners and faxing services will be available during open hours.
Passport services are available by appointment. Please call the Information Desk at 309-524-2470 with questions or to make an appointment. The Library is unable to offer passport photo services at this time so passport photos will need to be gotten elsewhere and brought with at the time of your appointment.
Books can be returned in the lobby book return or through the drive up book return on the east side of the library that is open 24/7.
To encourage social distancing, three stations for self-checkout are available and their use is encouraged.
Normal seating is available at the Moline Public Library. Due to COVID-19, patrons planning to stay on the floor are encouraged to maintain proper social distancing when choosing a seating location. Facemasks must be worn at all times in the building, even when seated at a table or in a study carrel.
Hotspots may be able to be checked out. All hotspots must be returned at the Moline Public Library book drop media slot only. Read here for more details.
Passes to local attractions are available for checkout. Destinations include Figge Art Museum, Putnam Museum, Quad City Botanical Center, and Niabi Zoo.
Donations of Books & Magazines
Donations can be left in the donation box in our lobby, next to the book return boxes.
Friends Sale Room
The Friends Sale Room hours are Monday and Tuesday, 10am to 4pm, Wednesday through Friday, 10am to 2pm.
Java Lab Grind and Dine Café is now open for dine in, carryout, and curbside service Monday and Tuesday, 9am to 7pm, and Wednesday through Friday, 9am to 4pm. Saturday hours may resume in the spring.
